Every other year during the Lenten Season, the Basilica celebrates a Sedar Supper. The Sedar Supper recalls the passover of the Jewish people and their passage from slavery to freedom in the promised land. Jesus Christ is the new passover and paschal lamb who has passed from death to life for our freedom. During the Lenten season, we recall our sinfulness and prepare for the new life of Easter.
During the dinner, prayers from the Jewish Sedar Service are prayed as we remember the roots of our faith. Funds are raised to help the poor in our community as well as other needs of the parish.
